Rajouri Mar, 8. Government Medical College and Associated Hospitals today started Gastroenterology and Cardiology OPD Services for the people of this border area.
Disclosing this, Principal Medical College GMC Rajouri Prof. (Dr) A S Bhatia said that on the directions of Secretary Health and Medical Education Bhupinder Kumar and with the support of Director Co-ordinator New Medical Colleges Dr Yash Paul Sharma, these superspecialist medical services have been started. The Gastroenterology section will provide various procedures like Endoscopy of stomach and Esophagus, Colonoscopy, Sigmoidoscopy along with other procedures.
The Cardiology OPD will shortly be supplemented with the availability of implantation of Pacemaker.
Principal GMC Rajouri further added that the Health and Medical Education Department is very keen to start all superspecialist services at GMC Rajouri to strengthen the patient care services in this region, so that the patient do not have to go to Jammu or outside the State.
To strengthen the existing manpower, infrastructure, Secretary Health and Medical Education had recently appointed many super specialists who include Anesthetists, Orthopaedician, Cardiologists and Gastroenterologists in this hospital.
Principal GMC Rajouri said that steps to start Cathlab and MRI has already been initiated by the Government. HoD Medicine Dr Jamil-Ul-Hussain said that there will be two days for Cardiology OPD and four days for Gastroenterology per week.
Medical Superintedent Dr Mehmood Hussain Bajar said steps are being taken to start pulmonology OPD very soon. With the start of such services, the poor patients of Rajouri and Poonch Districts will be greatly benefited.
