JAMMU, Dec 25: Dr Ishtyak Ahmed Mir, Assistant Professor Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery, Super-Speciality Hospital, Government Medical College Jammu, has been awarded Rashtriya Gaurav Award at a ceremony held at New Delhi. The award was presented to him by Dr Bhishma Narain Singh, former Governor of Tamil Nadu and Assam.
Dr Mir, a resident of village Budhli, (Bhalessa), Doda has obtained his MBBS from GMC Jammu. PGDHHM from Ignou New Delhi. MS General Surgery and MCh Cardiovascular Thoracic Surgery from SKIMS Srinagar. He has worked in various capacities in SKIMS Srinagar for 13 years as Consultant Surgery in GMC Srinagar, Assistant Professor in GMC Jammu and is presently working in Super-Speciality Hospital, GMC Jammu.
He is the editorial board member/ reviewer in some national journals, has presented various papers at national and international level, besides having dozens of publications in indexed local and national journals. He was previously honoured for his best social services by an NGO in Banihal and Kolkata. Dedicating the award to the department of CVTS, SSH-GMC Jammu. The awardee said his faculty colleagues Dr Noor Ali (HoD CVTS), Dr Arvind Kohli, Dr Pooja Vimesh (HoD Cardiac Anesthesia), Dr Mohit Arora, Dr Vivek Gandhotra, Dr Babar Rashid, Charan Jeet, Indu Khurdi and all other staff members from the Department of CVTS and Cardiac Anesthesia have been the guiding and inspiring forces without whom it would not have been possible to get awarded for meritious services, outstanding performance and remarkable role.
