Srinagar, Feb 24: The Department of Ophthalmology at GMC Baramulla today performed a long-standing paralytic convergent squint surgery under local anesthesia.
According to GMC, the patient, who had suffered from extreme cosmetic deformity, diplopia, and confusion following a road traffic accident, underwent corrective surgery.
The surgery involved the resection of the Lateral Rectus (LR) muscle, recession of the Medial Rectus (MR) muscle, and reattachment to the sclera using absorbable sutures, doctors said.
The procedure was conducted under the expertise of Dr. Abdul Wahab Bhat, HoD, Ophthalmology, along with a team comprising Dr. Idi Amarah (Senior Resident), Dr. Nadia Babar (DNB Resident), and OT assistants Neelofar and Sabreena.
