JAMMU, June 9: In order to pay their tribute to renowned Gojri Fiction Writer, Artist, Producer & noted Journalist, Late Advocate Ghulam Rasool Asghar Hakla a function organised by Gojri Literary Society (GLS) was held here today.
The function was organised by GLS in collaboration with Himayat Production.
Arshad Choudhary, Chairman GDCT Jammu presided over the function. The writers, intellectuals, journalists from various walks of life participated in the programme.
Arshad Choudhary, Chairman GDCT in his presidential address lauded the role of Late Advocate Ghulam Rasool Asghar in promotion of Gojri language and literature and highlighted his outstanding contributions for the development of Gujjar-Bakerwal community and other marginalized communities through his activism and weekly Urdu newspaper “Himayat”.
Speakers said that Ghulam Rasool Asghar Hakla played a vital role in spreading awareness among Tribals and preserving their culture etc. They also appreciated and highlighted his role in achieving Scheduled Tribe status to Gujjar-Bakerwal community, promotion of Gojri language through Gojri Dramas, Tele Serials, Tele Films and highlighting various issues concerning the nomad communities through his newspaper Himayat.
They said that Asghar wrote about 100 write-ups published as articles, stories, editorials that clearly depicts his devotion towards Gojri language and culture.
Speakers described Late Ghulam Rasool Asghar as a tribal crusader and social reformer who played a vital and exemplary role in the overall development of Gujjar-Bakerwal community as socio-political activist, journalist, producer, artist, writer, lyricist as well as great human.
He also remained General Secretary of Gurjar Sudhar Sabha, General Secretary of Gujjar Islahi Committee and created awareness among marginalized communities for the struggle of their rights.
Ghulam Rasool Asghar participated in various Conferences organized by Akhil Bhartiya, Gurjar Sudhar Sabha, Gujjar Bakerwal Conference and Gujjar Islahi Committee.
The speakers complimented all the people for their participation in the programme and making it a great success.
