NEW DELHI, May 11: Glowing tributes were paid to two Kashmiri Pandit legends including martyr Sarwanand Koul Premi who was a poet, a great nationalist, an author and freedom fighter and Sur Samrat, Vijay Malla whose death anniversaries were observed on May 1 and 9 respectively by all prominent organisations of NCR at a function held here, today.
The programme was organised by Athrot in collaboration with KECSS, Delhi which was supported by All India Kashmiri Samaj(AIKS), Jammu Kashmir Vichar Manch (JKVM), Kashmir Samiti Delhi, KSS Faridabad, Save Sharda Committee, Tika Lal Taploo Foundation, Y4PK and Roots in Kashmir.
Programme began with floral tributes being paid by all to the legends which was followed a musical tribute being paid to them by younger generation of artists from Jammu & NCR.
A poem of Sarwanand Koul Premi dedicated to Mata Saraswati was composed and sung by Vanshika Bhat in the beginning followed by prominent songs of Vijay Malla presented by Himanshi Raina, Bhavik Pandita, Vansh Pandita, Upasana, Sharad Pandita, Vishal Pandita, Chhavvi Koul, Sagar Koul and Vanshika Bhat.
M K Kaw secretary, (retd) HRD was the chief guest who appreciated Athrot for taking such initiatives on regular basis and lauded the efforts of the organization in keeping the culture alive. The families of Sur Samrat, Vijay Malla & Sarwanand Koul Premi were presented mementos as token of love from community and from Mrs Shivraj Pandita who is an admirer of these legends.
All the performers were felicitated on the occasion by Athrot, KECSS and by Mrs Shivraj Pandita. The event was anchored by Deepti Tikoo and welcome address was read by Kanwal Peshin while the vote of thanks was presented by Dr Rajinder Tikoo.
The programme was witnessed by a galaxy of audiences from NCR despite of high temperature. The audience was spell bound by the mesmerizing performance of the young artists.
