GKPD demands one place settlement of displaced Pandits

JAMMU, Feb 12: An interactive session between some of the eminent displaced Pandits with Dr. Surinder Kaul, International Co-coordinator Global Kashmiri Pandit Diaspora (GKPD) was held here to take stock and deliberate on short and long term challenges before the community. It was organised by Moti Kaul a prominent Pandit leader.
In his address Moti Kaul expressed great satisfaction on the historical decision on annulling of Article 370 and 35A The community salutes the visionary and courageous leadership of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi in finally cementing the territorial, political and cultural unity of the State with the Indian Union.
Kaul was categorical in stating that the displaced Kashmiri Pandits still await the justice for the crimes and genocide committed on them. He urged upon the Union Government and the State to take concrete steps to respond to their short and long term concerns.
Dr. Surinder Kaul, International Co-coordinator of GKPD in his address while explaining the formation of GKPD, a Civil Society Movement, said that this collective conscious emerged out of ethnic cleansing and genocide perpetrated on the Pandits that led to their wide dispersal and diaspora.
The members said so for the return and rehabilitation in the Valley is concerned, KPs across the globe are committed to pursue a single concentrated and sustainable settlement in the Valley under the aegis of a framework with appropriate safeguards.
They said pending this passage, the Government should set up a Specific Large Fund for complete restoration, renovation, and reconstruction of these temples and Dharamshalas.
The meeting also demanded that an Advisory Board be set-up with proper representative character to advise the State as well as the Centre on all important issues pertaining to the survival of Kashmiri Pandits.

K K Khosa, president KP Sabha Vijay Bakaya, Ex CS, Ashok Aima, VC CUJ, Shuban Kahbari, P N Goja, Ramesh Hangloo, M K Yogi, Meenakshi Kilam, Bihari Kak, Kashmiri Lal, Aryan Ramesh, Ajay Khosa and others.
