JAMMU, Oct 20: BJP today said allowing Mahajans, Khatris and Sikhs to buy and sell agricultural land will lead to multi-factorial benefits including agricultural advancement, financial growth and improved employment in Jammu & Kashmir.
J&K BJP chief spokesperson, Sunil Sethi accompanied by BJP Media Secretary Dr. Pardeep Mahotra at a press conference at BJP headquarter, Trikuta Nagar, here while expressing its utmost satisfaction over the decision of Jammu and Kashmir administration, said it will surely lead to increased pace of agricultural advancement, financial growth and improved employment in Jammu & Kashmir.
He said Mahajans, Khatris and Sikhs have been given the right to buy and sell agricultural land in J&K for agricultural and allied activities which was a long pending demand of these communities who have now heaved a sigh of relief with the decision of UT administration.
Sethi said BJP J&K has long been vocal for the demand to give rights to these communities and highlighted the issue at every administrative level right from Jammu & Kashmir to the Union Government. He said that these laws existed before the reorganization of the State which remained there even after the new laws of Union Territory were framed. The J&K BJP immediately raised the issue before Lieutenant Governor of the UT and with the Union Home Ministry. He said that with the great efforts today the justice has been served which is a matter of pleasure for all of us. He said that J&K BJP is steadfast to raise all the issues of public importance at the appropriate level, be it at LG level or Union Ministry level for their prompt redress.
Sethi also said that targeted killings in Kashmir are dreadful attempts to derail the peace process and create impediments in the progress in J&K by Pakistan and its supporters. “Our security forces are successfully eliminating terrorists responsible for the carnages and the non-locals will again feel safe in Kashmir’’, he added.
