SAMBA, Aug 19: Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party (JKAP) senior leader and former Minister, Manjit Singh has demanded property right on custodian property allotted to the Chhamb displaced persons.
In a statement to the press, the former Minister has appealed to the Government to give ownership rights to the Chhamb displaced persons of 1971 and 1965.
“The displaced persons have lost their properties in the Indo-Pak wars and they became homeless. The Government had allotted them custodian land on which they cannot claim ownership rights,” said Manjit Singh.
For decades, he said, they have lived on the land without land rights. In the Union Territory, the Government should give them right on the property they are holding.
He said that the Chhamb displaced persons have suffered adversely due to the border clashes and they were not given their dues despite assuring ownership rights on the property.
