JAMMU, May 23: Pradesh Congress has strongly criticised the Modi led BJP Government for its failure to restore peace  on borders and maintained that Indian Government must give befitting response to  Pakistan.
Addressing a joint press conference at party office here today, senior PCC leaders  Raman Bhalla, Manjit Singh, Ravinder Sharma and Vikram Malhotra said that with the five more deaths on the border during past 24 hours in Pak firing, over a dozen civilians have been killed on International Border in Jammu sector in last few days. They said that during BJP Government more than 2500 ceasefire violations took place in J&K while during Congress regime and figure was below 100.
Referring to  their visit to the border belt of RS Pura, Arnia and Ramgarh where large  number of  people were injured and about a dozen killed in Pak shelling  recently,  the PCC leaders said  that  this Government has failed to protect  its citizens and their property. They said many cattle have been killed and houses damaged. The people were forced to leave their homes and there is no proper arrangement  of their shifting to the safer places  and no proper medical facilities were there  in border hospitals. They said only BSF and Army troops are  helping the civilians in big way.
They also criticised BJP leaders for avoiding to visit affected areas and alleged that they are hesitant to come out of their comfort zone. They alleged that BJP Government had promised to provide bunkers and plots to the border people in safer zones but after coming to power, about four years are over, no such promise has been fulfilled by them so far.
Launching a scathing attack on Central BJP leadership, they alleged that Modi used to tell NDA led by Dr Manmohan Singh a weak Government and also claimed that ’56 inch’ chest is needed to take bold decisions, but where that chest has gone. The borders are disturbed, thousands of people have been forced to migrate from their homes in Jammu sector, many innocents are being killed and scores of injured but the Prime Minister  did not utter a single word. Even during his Jammu visit he remained silent on the killings of civilians in Pak shelling.
These leaders said that they along with senior leaders Madan Lal Sharma ( Ex-MP), R S Chib, Ch Gharu Ram and  Prof Gharu Ram visited several affected villages along IB and also participated in the funeral of a few deceased villagers at Ben Glad in Samba and expressed sympathy with the bereaved families.  They said that people are highly critical of the Central and the State Governments over its attitude. The schools are closed and the people are taking shelter under trees and Government schools and Panchayat Ghars etc. They alleged that BJP Govt had no policy  to dealt with Pakistan and also over Kashmir.
