Girls surpass boys in JU’s final year results

JAMMU, June 9: After making their dominance in the Class X and XII results, girls also surpassed boys in the graduation final year examinations, the result of which was declared today by the University of Jammu.
Most of the girls from the prestigious Government College for Women (GCW), Parade claimed the top slots and maximum positions thus leaving behind the SPMR College of Commerce and Government College for Women (GCW), Gandhi Nagar.
GCW Parade made a clean sweep in the merit lists in the BA/BSc/BCom/BBA and BCA Part-III examinations by securing 12 positions, followed by SPM Rajput College of Commerce with 11 positions and Government College for Women (GCW), Gandhi Nagar with 10 positions.
Girls secured 43 positions out of total 56 positions in all the five streams while the boys claimed 13 positions, including three in Commerce and seven in BBA.
A total of 18360 students took the examinations and the total pass percentage was 61 per cent.
In Science stream, top position has been secured by GCW Gandhi Nagar with Sipaj Jain being the topper by securing 85.57 per cent marks followed by Ria Gupta of GCW Parade, who secured second position with 84.36 per cent marks. The third position was claimed by Priyanka Sharma of Government Degree College Hiranagar with 84.06 per cent marks.
In Commerce stream, SPM Rajput College of Commerce secured top position with 74.05 per cent marks by Sonali Chib, followed by second position by Government Degree College Samba with Priya Devi with 72.22 per cent marks. Ragini Gupta of Government College for Women, Parade secured third position with 71.55 per cent marks.
In Arts stream, the first position was bagged by Nalinie Sharma of Government Women College Kathua with 76.84 per cent marks, whereas second position by Garima Jasrotia of Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar and third position by Vintee Kotwal of Government Degree College, Bhaderwah with 73.93 per cent marks.
In BCA stream, first and third positions were claimed by GGM Science College with Parul Gupta and Arun Singh securing 81.45 and 76.72 per cent marks respectively. Manisha Manhas of Government College for Women, Parade secured second position with 78.72 per cent marks.
In BBA stream, Himankshi Gupta of SPM Rajput College of Commerce claimed first position with 74.47 per cent marks, followed by second and third positions by Government Degree College Kathua with Arjun Hans and Manisha Jasrotia with 73.80 per cent and 73.09 per cent marks respectively.
