Girl washed away in Indus

LEH, July 20: A 22-year-old girl was washed away in river Indus in Phay village here.
As per police sources, information was received at Police Station Leh that a girl has been washed away in Indus river at Phay village.
Acting swiftly, a police party from Police Station Leh along with another party of UTDRF Leh rushed towards the spot and kept searching till late night but couldn’t found the body.
Today, the search operation was resumed from early morning and finally after strenuous efforts, the teams fished out the body of the girl aged 22 years, from the river.
After completing medical and legal formalities, the body was handed over to the family members for last rites.
Inquest proceeding under Section 174 CrPC has been initiated at Police Station Leh in this regard.
