MENDHAR, June 26: A 9-year-old girl washed away in flash flood in Gursai area of Mendhar while rain and wind storm caused damage to electric poles and wires in the area last evening.
Reports said the minor girl, Samreen Akhtar, daughter of Qamar Iqbal, resident of Bhata Duriyan was trapped in flash flood in a nalla last evening and washed away. She was rescued by the villagers and then removed to hospital. Later, she was referred to District Hospital Rajouri but she died on the way.
Meanwhile, the rain and wind storm caused damage to the poles and other electric infrastructure in the area, causing disruption in the power supply in many areas. The supply could not be restored in several areas while, the water logging in Mendhar Bazar caused damage to the traders.
