Girl electrocuted; body recovered

KATHUA, Aug 2: A nine-year-old girl was killed due to electric shocks with a live cable lying in the fields at village Jandrali in Basohli while unidentified body of a middle- aged man was recovered from the bank of river Ujh near Panjtirthi village in Billawar today.
A police spokesman said that 9-year-old Anjali, daughter of Guddu Ram, resident of Hutt village had gone to her grandmother’s (Nani’s) house at Jandrali. The mishap took place when she had gone to nearby fields and got trapped in  a live cable already lying there. It had been broken from 11 KV power line. The girl was  killed on the spot.
The villagers later lodged strong protest against the PDD authorities and also lodged an FIR No. 75/ 2015 against the local PDD staff for negligence at Basohli Police Station.
Meanwhile, an unidentified body of  middle aged man was recovered from Panjtirthi area of Billawar today. Some locals of the area noticed the body lying at the bank of river Ujh and informed police. The police party removed the body to Billawar hospital and kept there for identification. He is believed to have washed away in flood.
