UDHAMPUR, June 18: A class 12th student committed suicide by hanging herself from ceiling fan at her house in village Rahmati in Udhampur.
The deceased has been identified as Kirti Devi (18), daughter of Raj Kumar of Rahamti. She was found hanging from ceiling fan under mysterious circumstances. On being informed by family member, Udhampur police rushed to the spot and shifted the body to District Hospital Udhampur for postmortem and other legal formalities.
Cause behind the extreme step could not be ascertained while no suicide note was recovered from the room. Police has registered a case in this connection for further investigation.
Meanwhile, in a separate case, a teen aged girl Diksha attempted suicide by consuming some poisonous substance at her residence near Supply Morh. Family members took her to District Hospital Udhampur where doctors repeatedly washed her stomach and she was responding to the treatment.
