UDHAMPUR, Dec 6: A class 11 girl student attempted self immolation at her residence in village Dhanu, here last night.
The 17-year old Rajni poured kerosene oil on her body and set herself ablaze. Before the family members could douse the flames and rescue her, she had received severe burn injuries. She was rushed to District Hospital Udhampur where doctors referred her to GMC Hospital Jammu in view of her critical condition.
Cause behind the provocation could not be ascertained.
Meanwhile, a woman pedestrian was injured when an unidentified motorcycle hit her at Dhar Road Udhampur.
The victim, identified as Anita Davi wife of Bishan Dass of Kalar Udhampur, was rushed to hospital by the locals. Her condition was stated to be stable.
Police has registered the case in this connection but there was no clue of the motorcycle, which hit the woman.
