Girdawars, Patwaries observe pen down strike on 2nd consecutive day

JAMMU, May 15: Girdawars and Patwaries of district Jammu observed pen down strike on 2nd consecutive day today and staged a sit-in protest at DC office complex, Jammu.
On the State wide strike call given by All J&K Patwar Association, a large number of Girdawars and Patwaries assembled today at DC office and raised slogans against the Government for ignoring their demands. The speakers said that they were assured of fulfilling their demands many times in the past by the concerned authorities but every time they were cheated and compelled to chose the path of agitation.

Reiterating their demands like grade pay for Graduate Patwaries, conducting timely DPC of patwaries and Girdawars, creation of GQ Circles and Patwar halqas, ban on direct recruitment of Naib Tehsildar, enhancement of allowances for Patwaries and Girdawars, rent for Patwar Khanas (private accommodation) and construction of Patwar Khanas, senior State vice president of AJKPA, Mushtaq Ahmed Ganai and Jammu provincial president, Farooq Malik, said that the association will continue their pen down strike till their demands are not met.
They said that for inconvenience to the public due to the strike of the association, Government will be responsible. Other association leaders present on the protest site were Raman Raj Sharma, ex-State president, State organizer, Vinay Kumar, Jammu district president, Kaleem Ahmed and Samba district president, Amjad Malik.
In Udhampur district also, the Girdawars and Patwaries observe strike and stage protest. The protest was lead by provincial publicity secretary, Ghulam Mohammad, Lochan Singh district president, Omkar Singh and tehsil president, Rakesh Sharma.
Patwaries under the banner of the AJKPA also held dharna and observe pen down strike at DC office complex, Reasi, in support of their long-pending demands. The protest was joined by patwaris drawn from various tehsils of the district.
