PATIALA, Dec 7: Natrang’s internationally acclaimed Dogri play ‘Ghumayee’, conceived, written, designed and directed by Balwant Thakur, mesmerized the theatre elite of Punjab at the Theatre Festival-2014, organized by North Zone Cultural Centre, Ministry of Culture, at the jam-packed Kalidass Auditorium, Virsa Vihaar, Patiala.
Staged for over 200 times globally, play “Ghumayee” is based on Dogri folk tale sanctifying the significance of human relationship over the most prized relationship of marriage bound by mere rituals.
The most noteworthy aspect of the play is its electrifying language of images and soulful music and out of the world singing by acclaimed Suraj Singh. The stunning and intense acting by Natrang’s seasoned actors kept the audience spellbound. Vikrant Sharma as ‘Paani Lane Aala’ received standing ovation for his magical acting. The senior actors of Jammu stage Suresh Kumar, Anil Tickoo, Neeraj Kant, Pawan Verma and Subash Jamwal gave remarkable performances. Aarushi Thakur in her maiden performance as ‘Dulhan’ presented impressive portrayal of the character. Others who gave successful performances included Ankush Lakhnotra, Sakshi Prakash, Juhi Singh, Sanchita Dubey, Gopi Sharma, Vanshika Gupta, Surya Salathia, Amit Raina, Rajan Thakyal, Ravinder Manhas, Pankaj Verma, Mahikshit Singh and Masood Qadir.
The creative lights were designed by Anil Tickoo and Mohd Yaseen is credited for effective musical score. The show was coordinated by Aaftab Singh.
