Ghagwal police rescues 20 bovine animals, arrests 2 smugglers

SAMBA: Nov, 29: District Police Samba successfully foiled two consecutive attempts to smuggle bovines by rescuing 20 bovines and arresting two bovine smugglers in the jurisdiction of Police Station Ghagwal.
A police party of Police Station Ghagwal, while performing vehicle checking at naka NHW, Tapyal intercepted a truck bearing Registration Number, JK02AK-6979 which was coming from Kathua side and moving towards Valley. During checking of the vehicle, 15 bovines were found laden inside it without any permission.
The accused driver identified as Sawant Singh, S/o Darshan Singh along with his associate Gurmeet Lal, S/o Thoru Ram both residents of RS Pura, Jammu have been arrested on spot. All the bovines were rescued and shifted to safer place. The vehicle used for transporting the bovines was also seized on spot. A case FIR No. 125/2020 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act stands registered at PS Ghagwal and investigation started.
In another similar incident, Police team of PS Ghagwal on reliable information, laid a surprise naka on link road near village Radyal, Ghagwal and during checking signaled a Tata Mobile vehicle bearing Registration Number JK08D-7678 to stop which was coming from Kathua side through Bein Nallah track and moving towards Samba side. Instead of stopping the vehicle, the driver accelerated the speed and abandoned it at a few metres distance away from naka point when chased by the naka party. However taking advantage of the darkness, the driver managed to escape from the spot.
During checking of the vehicle, five bovines were found laden inside it without any permission. All the bovines were rescued and shifted to safer place. The vehicle used for transporting the bovines was seized on spot.
In this connection, a case FIR No. 126/2020 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act stands registered at PS Ghagwal and investigation started.
