Ghagwal police rescues 2 bovines, arrests driver

SAMBA, Dec 1: Samba police has foiled an attempt to smuggle bovine by rescuing two animals in the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS), Ghagwal near here, today.
Acting on reliable information regarding transportation of bovines, a police party of PS Ghagwal while performing vehicle checking duty at Naka NHW, Tapyal, Ghagwal signaled a Mahindra Vehicle bearing Registration Number, JKO2CE 5439 which was coming from Kathua side and moving towards Valley to stop.
Instead of stopping the vehicle, the driver accelerated the speed and fled away from the spot. The alert cops successfully chased the vehicle and intercepted it within a few meters away from the naka point. During checking of the vehicle, two cattle were found laden inside it.
The accused driver identified as Makhan Singh, son of Bachan Singh of Dablehar tehsil, R.S Pura district Jammu has been arrested on spot. Both the bovines were rescued and shifted to safer place. The vehicle used for transporting the bovines was also seized on spot.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 207/2021 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act stands registered at PS Ghagwal and investigation started.
