Ghagwal police foils bovine smuggling bid

SAMBA, Aug 3:    The district police Samba foiled a bovine smuggling bid and rescued 17 bovines today.
Police said a party of Police Station Ghagwal headed by SI Bansi Lal , SHO Ghagwal under the close supervision of Deepak Digra, Dy.SP Headquarters Samba, during routine naka checking at NHW Tapyal, signaled a truck bearing Regd. No. JK02AH/5977, which was coming from Kathua side to stop but the driver on seeing the Police Party accelerated the speed of the vehicle and tried to escape from the spot.
However the police party chased the vehicle and this forced the driver to abandon the vehicle at NHW Nonath and he managed to escape from the spot. During checking of the vehicle, 17 bovines were found laden inside the vehicle which was being transported without any permission. The vehicle was seized on spot and all the bovines were rescued. In this regard a case FIR No. 108/2018 U/S 188 RPC, 2/3 PCA Act, has been registered at P/S Ghagwal and investigation is started.
The operation was conducted under the directives of SSP Samba Anil Magotra.
