SAMBA, Aug 1: In continuation to its drive against illegal liquor vendors Ghagwal police today arrested one person namely Mohan Singh S/o Karnail Singh of Chhan Khatrian Hiranagar along with 30 bottles of Punjab made rum. His another accomplice managed to escape after seeing police party.
Police was after them since long as they are the main suppliers who use to smuggle Punjab made liquor from interstate nakas and later on supply it in the entire border belt. Escaped criminal is a notorious liquor vendor and he has been identified as Shashipal S/o Desraj Sharma of Marheen tehsil Hiranagar district Kathua, police said.
Police said number of cases stand registered against him in Kathua. Two bags were seized from spot at Tapyal near ITBP Headquarters containing 15 bottles each. Arrest were made by SI Rajeshwar Singh, SHO P/S Ghagwal under the supervision of Dy SP Headquarters Samba and SSP Anil Magotra.
