SRINAGAR, May 7:  Masrat Kar, daughter of Late Gh Rasool Kar, a prominent politician from Sopore, today joined PDP along with hundred other women including many social activists from the area.
She was admitted to party fold by PDP party general secretary Nizamudin Bhat and leader of PDP’s women wing Anjum Fazili (MLA) at a function at party headquarters.
Several party leaders, including Mohammad Khurshid Alam (MLC) and District president Srinagar, Noor Mohammad Sheikh, MLA Batmaloo, Muntazir Mohiudin District president Budgam, Ab Hameed Kosheen and Dr Ali Mohammad Wani besides Irshad Rasool Kar and chief coordinator North Kashmir Raja Aijaz Ali Khan, were also present on the occasion.
Admitting Masrat to party ranks, Nizamudin Bhat said that women empowerment was a main focus of State Government under the dynamic and able leadership of Mehbooba Mufti.
He said that women have always held a special place in PDP and Mehbooba Mufti is symbol of public confidence in the females in particular to lead the society to new lights, he added.
Anjum Fazilli called for an active participation of women in State’s rebuilding and appealed them to take advantage of specific reservations in institutions.
Mohammad Khurshid Alam referred to Mehbooba Mufti’s decisions to empower the women folk and raise their stock.
Earlier yesterday, two prominent women activists Kulsuma Khan and Zubaida Khan joined PDP at party convention of Eidgah in presence of party general secretary and district president.
Both the women are from a rich background given their record of public services and joined PDP in acknowledgement of sincere role being played by Mehbooba Mufti to bring the J&K State out of decade’s old turmoil and economic deprivation.
