RAJOURI, June 8: Acute dearth of teachers at Government Girls Higher Secondary School Sunderbani in Rajouri district has left students a harried lot. According to the aggrieved students, the shortage was being felt acutely even before physical classes resumed for students across all sections.
About 200 students in class XI and XII have lamented that they don’t have lecturers for several subjects such as Geography, Political Science, Education and Economics. The agitated students complained that the posts have been lying vacant since the start of the current academic year.
Even though the students and the school administration have reportedly time and again brought the issue to the notice of higher authorities in the School Education Department but to no avail.
“Right to education and right to a decent and dignified life are our basic rights enshrined in the Constitution. And still the authorities seems completely apathetic,” said a student requesting anonomity.
Most of the students come to the school from villages as far as 10-15 kms. “My parents are small farmers. Most of the times, my father does menial jobs to support family income. I can’t afford education in the private schools,” said another student, requesting anuthories to appoint a geography 4 lecturer in her school without any further delay.
