GEUAF discusses burning demands

JAMMU, May 26: Jammu and Kashmir Government Employees’ United Action Forum (GEUAF) discussed the genuine demands of the Government and public sector employees during a one-day conference held, here today.
Hundreds of Government employees and activists from various Government departments participated in the conference, which was aimed at making the employees and workers aware about their trade unions’ rights which are being curbed by the State Government intentionally to stop their functioning.
In the conference, the speakers expressed that need of the hour is unity among the State Government employees to check the anti-employees’ activities of the State Government so that the basic rights of the working class be protected. The leadership of the employees declared that all future course of actions and activities will be launched from the platform of newly floated J&K Government Employees’ Action Forum.
The leaders of the trade unions expressed that the State Government has absolutely failed to address the genuine demands of the State Government employees viz restoration of Government office timing from 8 AM to 2 PM, introduction of health insurance scheme for Government employees, enhancement of medical allowance from Rs 300 to Rs 5000 per month, regularization of casual workers as per SRO-520 on time, etc.
In the conference, various resolutions were passed unanimously in the interest of the Government employees. It was announced that the Forum has decided to suspend all its agitational activities for 15 days due to pious Ramzan month and soon after Eid, the agitational programmes will be resumed to force the State Government to address all the pending issues of the employees.
