A shop on fire.

JAMMU, Nov 8: A general store was gutted in a devastating fire in Satwari area of the winter capital.
“A general store (Karyana Shop) owned by Gulshan Kumar, son of late Tundamal, resident of Nai Basti was completely gutted in an inferno which broke out this evening due to short circuit in Satwari”, a police official said here.
On receiving information, police party from Satwari Police Station rushed to the spot and fire tenders were pressed in to service to douse the flames.
“The fire broke at 4:30 pm today and fire tenders along with the teams of fire fighters were pressed into service to douse the inferno and restrict it from spreading to adjoining areas, he said, adding, that no injury or casualty in the incident has been reported.
The shop was completely damaged in the blaze, he said, adding that the exact loss could not be ascertained immediately.
An official of Fire and Emergency Services Department said that 2 fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the flames. After hectic efforts for couple of hours, the fire was brought under control, he added.
A case has been registered at Satwari Police Station and investigation started to ascertain the exact cause behind the incident.
