LEH, May 7: In view of the forthcoming Lok Sabha election 2024, the General Observer to 1-Ladakh Parliamentary Constituency, BH Talati IAS visited 6 polling stations in Leh on May 7.
The polling stations that the General Observer visited were DIET Leh, Government Middle School, Skara, Housing Colony A (Government High School, Housing Colony), Housing Colony B (Community Hall, Housing Colony), Housing Colony C (Degree College) and Housing Colony D (Degree College).
While checking the minimum facilities at the polling station, he also interacted with the respective Booth Level Officers (BLOs).
The General Observer met with the Static Surveillance Team (SST) of Leh tehsil and instructed them to keep a record of all the vehicles checked during their patrolling.
Additionally, he also paid a visit to the Strong Room and Counting Room at SSK to check the preparations at these locations. He was accompanied by Returning Officer, 1 Ladakh Parliamentary Constituency, Santosh Sukhadeve and Deputy District Election Officer, Leh, AG Zargar.
Further, the General Observer, BH Talati and Expenditure Observer, Gajendra Singh IRS convened a meeting with the representatives of the contesting candidates. The aim of the meeting was to brief them about the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) and to discuss with them issues related to the elections.
The Expenditure Observer highlighted the key points to follow while maintaining the expenditure register and to contact him or the Assistant Expenditure Observer, present in both Leh and Kargil for any clarification related to maintaining the expenditure register.
Returning Officer, Santosh Sukhadeve, Deputy District Election Officer, AG Zargar, Assistant Expenditure Officer, Leh, Dr Zulfikar Ali and SSP, Leh, Shruti Arora were present during this meeting.
