UDHAMPUR, June 25: All Jammu and Kashmir General Line Teachers Forum held a protest here against the Government’s decision to include five years honorarium period of ReT teachers for promotion benefits and transfer policy.
The demonstration was led by State president of the forum Neeraj Sharma and district president Dr Parshotam Singh.
The protestors raised slogans against the Government and said that the decision will damage the career of 35,000 and above general line teachers in the State.
While speaking, Neeraj Sharma and Dr Parshotam Singh said that ReT Scheme is just a Central Scheme, in which the criteria of selection is a panchayat level/revenue village merit for the selection and could not compete with SSRB.
They (ReT) were engaged on concessional basis by the Government so there is no comparison between them and general line teachers, who come through district level merit competition, they added.
They termed the Government decision as politically motivated and said that this decision will discourage the faith of the highly qualified teachers in the department.
They condemned the decision of the Government and asked the ReT teachers to not put the general masses in confusion by giving unnecessary statements. They added that this fight is against the Government for justice and not against ReT teachers.
