General Line Teachers Forum urges Governor for redressal of grievances

Jammu, May 27: Highlighting demands of teaching and non-teaching cadre of the School Education Department, the Jammu and Kashmir General Line Teachers Forum today appealed Governor Satya Pal Malik to personally intervene for redressal of their grievances with regard to pay anomaly, regularization of Lab Assistants, cadre strength, detachment of teaching staff, etc.
While addressing a press conference, here today, president of the Forum, Neeraj Singh said that the implementation of 7th Pay Commission has created a new pay anomaly with the teachers appointed in 2009 after their in-situ promotion. “The salary of these teachers has been fixed less as compared to their juniors ,” he informed demanding that the Government should resolve this issue and extend the benefit of Rule – 5 of SRO -193 of Finance Department, dated 24th of April 2018 or revise the J&K Civil Service (Higher Standard Pay Scheme ) Rules.

Seeking detachment of teaching staff from the offices and strict implementation of the transfer policy, Neeraj Sharma urged the Director School Education Jammu to issue necessary instructions to all the CEOs regarding the transfer of teachers who are working in Winter and Hard Zones for the last more than two years.
Further, he added, there should be immediate detachment of all the Teachers, Masters, Lecturers and Headmasters, who are attached in various offices like ZEO, CEO, DIET and even the Directorate from so many years on one or the other pretext, which is a grave violation of set norms and rules as teachers is fundamentally meant for teaching and not for clerical work.
Lamenting that no promotion avenues are left in the School Education Department due to irrational increase in Teacher cadre as compared to the next higher post, Neeraj Sharma urged the higher authorities to increase the cadre strength of Masters grade and other higher posts.
Neeraj Sharma also expressed strong resentment over continuous delay in resolving the legitimate demand of regularization of Incharge Lab Assistant, Jr Assistant, Lib Assistant through Departmental Promotion Committee, which was pending for the last 5 years. Demanding their regularization, he also appealed the authorities to immediately release the one month additional salary of the employees in Jammu district in lieu of the election duty performed during Panchayat and Municipal polls.
Others, who were present in the press conference, included Digvijay Singh , Ramneesh Khajuria , Tajinder Singh, Jeevakant, Ajay Dogra, Dr Sudesh , Amit Dabgotra, Naresh, Sanjeev Singh , Kiran Pandita, Wasim Choudhary, Surinder and Madan.
