JAMMU, Feb 26: General Category People’s Front J&K (GCPF) here today discussed the issues of public importance at its meeting chaired by Prof. Yash Paul Sanson, Front president.
Speaking on the occasion, Sanson alleged that the Government of India had been promoting casteism and communalism by extending reservation without any review or data.
He said that reservation was a social issue and today it has become a political issue.
“The Government has dishonoured and reversed the verdicts of Supreme Court on reservation,” Sanson maintained appealing GoI to end reservation, provide equal rights and equal laws to all and called upon people to raise voice against casteism and communalism.
He claimed that per-capita income of so called upper castes is the lowest in the country and these people have been bearing the brunt of continuous discrimination, neglect and marginalization.
The Front leader demanded 50 per cent cut in electricity and water bills besides reduction in taxes, fees and tolls. He appealed to the LG administration to enhance the Medical Allowance of employees and pensioners which they have been getting @ Rs. 300 per month for the last 25 years.
