JAMMU, Oct 16: A meeting of the General Category People’s Forum, Jammu, was held under the chairmanship of Raj Kumar Banathia, chairman of the forum, and discussed in detail the social, economic, political and regional discrimination being committed by the State as well as the Central Government.
Deliberating in the meeting, the alleged that there is something fundamentally wrong with the political class, which speaks in different languages on the same issue at different places.
Yash Paul Sanson, President of the Forum, asserted that all political parties have betrayed Jammu people. They come to power by exploiting the sentiments for their political gains and take the voters for ride, he said and added that massive hiking of taxes on everything was a brazen loot.
Sanson regretted that not even a single political outfit has spoke about the safeguarding the interest of Jammu people. “Jammu faced the most hostile discrimination and has been facing the same in the hands of these selfish politicians who play vote bank politics,” he lamented.
Som Nath Sharma, general secretary, expressed strong resentment against the installation of Toll Plaza at Sarore. The installation of this Toll Plaza is unfair, unjustified and it would destroy economy and business of Jammu region, he said and also expressed serious concern over the downfall of Indian economy due to faulty implementation of GST.
Alleging that PM Modi was running his Government as a Corporate house with an aim to tax the poor and middle class for the welfare of Corporate Houses and political class, Sharma warned that it would have serious political ramifications in future.
V K Sharma, vice-president of the Forum, demanded free Health Care Scheme for all senior citizens. He also demanded that people belonging to EWS be issued EWS certificates without delay under SRO 518.
Deepak Khajuria and Bhushan Pargal demanded 50 percent cut in water and electricity bills and complete abolition of Income Tax as people have been paying huge taxes on all necessary items and services. Jagdish Dogra, Gopal Dass Verma, Dr Bansi Lal, Ravi Kumar, Madan Lal also spoke in the meeting.
