Gen category people persistently facing neglect: GCPF

JAMMU, Nov 9: General Category People’s Front (GCPF) today alleged that general category people were facing persistent neglect and deprivation.
In a meeting of the Front held here today under the chairmanship of Raj Kumar Banathia, Chairman of the Front, the members deliberated upon the socio-economic and political policies of the Government.
Addressing the meeting Prof Yash Paul Sanson, president of the Front alleged that general category people (Swarn Castes) have been facing persistent neglect and deprivation due facilitation of illegal continuation of caste based discrimination, restricting the application of basic fundamental rights of majority.
Sanson demanded total review of existing reservation policy which has been turned irrelevant as it is too old to continue. The socio-economic and political atmosphere of the country has changed. Today, nation demands “Equality Act” to ensure “Equal rights and Equal Laws” for all citizens, irrespective of their caste and religion.
He stressed for government strategy to make Prime Minister’s “Sab Ka Saath, Sab Ka Vikas” slogan a reality ending all types of discrimination, special concessions, quotas, special privileges, divisive policies. He said that majority has decided to give a befitting reply to political parties, supporting and promoting divisive caste and religion based discrimination in the coming elections.
Som Nath Sharma, general secretary appealed to the Govt to end temporary and transitory arrangement of reservation which was for initial ten years and initiate legal and constitutional steps to change the negative perception about general category people and provide them equal opportunities, equal rights and equal participation in public life. He demanded scrapping of all contradictory rules and provisions of reservations, which undermined the principles of equality, justice, liberty and dignity.
VK Sharma vice president said that downfall of Indian economy and closure of factories, price rise and unemployment in the country is the result of faulty economic policies of the government.
