JAMMU, Aug 18 : In an attempt to bring people of rural and far-flung areas closer to Government and to address their problems at the doorsteps, Minister for Health, Horticulture and Floriculture, Sham Lal Sharma and Member Parliament, Madan Lal Sharma today convened a public meeting at village Gurah Jagir in Akhnoor tehsil.
The people apprised the Minister of the problems being faced by them including road upgradation, drinking water, electricity, better education services and construction of lanes and drains. He issued on the spot instructions to the concerned officers to immediately address their genuine demands and problems. He informed the meeting that Rs 4.53 crore have been sanctioned for this division for development. He also instructed the RDD to construct a compound wall and a room for residential purpose at local tubewell.
The Minister asked the concerned authorities to construct concrete wall along the local nallah for protection of the land which washed away during the rainy season.
On the power scenario, the Minister asked the functionaries to put extra efforts to ensure that people may not face any inconvenience particularly during the prevailing hot conditions. He asked them to maintain liaison with public and take them in confidence with regard to judicious use of power.
He also listed various development works and other projects taken in the Akhnoor constituency.
On the occasion, Madan Lal Sharma said that acceptance of the justified demands and taking right action to redress the grievances of the people is important ingredient in the public delivery system of Central and State Governments. He said that various measures aimed at ameliorating the lot of weaker sections of the society have been already initiated during the last over three years which are showing visible impact on ground.
He said all such special projects and programmes on completion would benefit local populace.
On the demand of opening of Primary School in Bhagat Mohalla and upgradation of local pond, Madan Lal asked the concerned to identify the land for the school building and he will put up the case before the concerned authorities.
