JAMMU, Oct 25: Government Degree College Bishnah today organized an Inter-Collegiate seminar on the topic `Life & Teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji”, in order to commemorate the celebration of 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev.
A total of nine college participated in the seminar. The first prize was won by Anmol from GDC Bishnah and the second prize was bagged by Jasmeet Kour from GCW Parade while the third prize was shared by Mansi from GDC R S Pura and Riya Sharma from GDC Bishnah.
Chief guest of the function was Dr Arvinder Singh Maan, Additional Secretary, Academy of Art, Culture and Language. He highlighted the moral teachings of Guru Nanak Dev and impressed upon the audience the relevance of `Kirat’ to live a life of austerity.
Principal of the College, Dr Kulvinder Kour talked about the present corridor between Nankana Sahib and Kartarpur where Guru Nanak Dev was born and spent his last time.
The adjudicators were Dr Arvinder Singh Amn, Prof (Retd) Assadullah Wani, Deptt of Urdu, University of Jammu and Dr Asha Gupta, Principal (Retd). The seminar proceedings were conducted by Prof Risha Kumar.
A book fair was also organized on the occasion by Sardar Paramjeet Singh. Different books on life and preachings of Guru Nanak dev were displayed in the book fair.
