JAMMU, May 25: NSS unit of Government College of Education, Jammu in collaboration with Indian Pollution Control Association (IPCA) today organized a special awareness programme on Plastic Waste Management under the patronage of Prof Aekta Gupta, Principal of the College.
The awareness programme provided a platform to all students and faculty of the college to get knowledge about the segregation of dry and wet waste and use of plastic.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Aekta Gupta said that the goal of the programme was to understand the severity of the issue and stop the use of plastic. Ranveer Singh, Regional Manager IPCA, said that plastic waste is a major challenge and highlighted in detail the process of dry and wet waste segregation.
Chairman SBM Gopal Gupta guided the students about the toxic smoke produced due to burning the plastic and said that everyone must understand the intensity at which plastic is destroying environment. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was also signed between IPCA and College under My 10 Kg Plastic campaign.
Dr Shubhra Jamwal, NSS PO thanked all the dignitaries present on the occasion for imparting the knowledge to staff and students. Faculty members who attended the programme were Prof Shapia Shameem, Prof Sarita Dogra, Prof Shalini Rana and Prof Neeraj Verma.
