JAMMU, Apr 23: For advancement of floriculture education, research and extension in the State, besides advancement in production technologies for quality flower production, plant health management, and agri clinic enterprises the Floriculture Science Congress will be held for the first time in Jammu during the month of November this year.
This was announced while talking to media persons by president of Garden Glory Human Empowerment Cooperative Ltd president, Dr Manoj Nazir and secretary, Ramesh Tickoo here today.
They said the Floriculture Science Congress will be organized by Garden Glory in collaboration with Directorate of Floriculture Research Govt of India University of Horticulture Science, Bangalkot, Karnataka.
They said the Science Congress of International repute will be held for three days and 200 delegates from different parts of the country and abroad are likely to participate in it.
They said that the Garden Glory has also instituted awards for individuals who had made significant contribution and displayed leadership in the field of floriculture , Pomology, Environmental Science and journalism. The society conferred four prestigious awards for 2015-2016. Prof P B Patil Memorial Award has been conferred to Prof JD Adiga of Karnataka, Gladious Award was conferred to Prof Bala Ji Kulkarni, Floriculture Scientist, Yamberzal Award conferred Neeraj Rajwal, Department of Agriculture Jammu and Durga Raj Dulari Memorial Award in environment Science has been conferred to Prof Pushipa Singh (Monad University) UP. It also announced Chandan Memorial Award in the field of journalism.
The Congress will be organized under supervision of Dr Manoj Nazir president and chief editor CORM, floriculture Research journal, Ramesh Tickoo its secretary, Prof M S Patil of Pune and Kesar Durani of Jammu.
