SAMBA, Sept 28: Minister for Industries and Commerce Chander Prakash Ganga today paid rich tributes to Lieutenant Sushil Khajuria (Kirti Chakra) who received martyrdom while fighting militants in Kupwara district of Kashmir in the year 2011.
The Minister laid wreath at the Lt. Sushil Khajuria Memorial park at village Sangwali of district Samba in a function organized by the Poorva Sainik Sewa Parishad (PSSP) to commemorate the 4th martyrdom day of Lt. Sushil Khajuria at his native village.
While addressing the gathering, the Minister said that the people of Jammu have history of serving the nation and sacrificing their lives for the motherland. He said Shaheed Lt. Sushil Khajuria was a brave son of the soil and he scarified his life while saving his men in the encounter.
The Minister also distributed prizes to the runners up and winner’s team of Volleyball tournament organized as part of the commemoration ceremony of the martyrdom day of Lt. Sushil Khajuria.
Cultural programmes based on the theme of patriotism were also presented by the school children during the function. Members of Delhi based Shaurya Orchestra Group also performed to pay tributes to the brave soldier.
ADC Samba Pawan Sharma, SSP Samba Joginder Singh, Brig (Retd) J R Sharma, former MLA Hiranagar Durga Dass, Gen. Secy PSSP Col (Retd) V S Mangotra, other officers, Army Personals besides locals were also present during the function.
