Gang of thieves busted

SRINAGAR, Dec 6: Police today said to have busted a gang of burglars who were active in north Kashmir’s Sopore town after complaints about their activities were brought into the notice of the local police.
Police said that during recent past several complaints were received by Police Station Sopore to the effect that “unknown thieves/burglars were active in town and have carried out thefts/burglaries in Sopore town.”
“On receipt of these complaints case FIR No.s 335/2020 U/S 458, 392, 506, 323/IPC and 337/2020 U/S 382/IPC stands registered in Police Station Sopore. During the course of investigation several suspects were arrested during nocturnal raids for questioning,” police said.
During the questioning, police said, notorious burglars identified as “Mehraj ud Din Kana @Deensoor S/o Ghulam Mohammad R/o Qazipora Bandipora, Tawheed Nabi Changa S/o Ghulam Nabi changa R/o Arampora Sopore, Mohammad Amin Dar S/o Ghulam Nabi R/o Shangergund Sopore, Mohammad Iqbal Najar S/o Nazir Ahmad R/o Model Town Sopore, Aqib Ahmad Dar S/o Ab Kareem Dar R/o Mahrajpora Sopore confessed to their involvement in recent burglaries that took place in Sopore town.”
Police said that the accused are “habitual offenders and drug addicts and are involved in many burglars cases.” The accused namely Mehraj-ud-Din Kana, police said, is the mastermind and was in custody, lodged in sub-jail Kupwara from last 8 months.
The police said that the accused “was released before some days and after release…involved himself in the same offence of theft/burglary and loot etc.” Police said that several cases stand registered against these accused in the Police Station Sopore, out of which most of the cases have been challaned.
