RAMBAN, June 6: Banihal police busted gang of robbers with the arrest of four persons.
This was stated by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ramban Mohan Lal, while talking to media persons.
He informed that on April 23 this year, a complaint was lodged by Tariq Ahmed Mir, son of Asadullah Mir of Gund Adalkote with Police Station Banihal stating that four persons traveling in Alto-K10 car stopped his way when he was heading towards home after closing his general store shop at Nagbal and snatched his bag containing Rs 5.97 lakh.
Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number 56/18 under Section 382 and 34 RPC was registered at Banihal Police Station and investigation started, SSP said, adding that during investigation, various suspects from across the valley were lifted and one of them broke down and confessed to commit the offence.
Police arrested the accused, who has been identified as Sajad Ahmed, son of Mohammad Ramzan Parry of Malikpura Trigam Tehsil Bandipora. The accused disclosed that he committed the crime along with his other associates identified as Sayed Muzafar, son of Muzafar Shah alias Zaffar Supari, Ashaq Hussain, son of Mohammad Asgar Sofi and Mohammad Ibrahim Rather, son of Abdul Rehman Rather, all resident of Yakhmanpura District Baramulla.
SSP stated that special teams were deputed to Kashmir and all the left over three accused were arrested, adding that the snatched money worth Rs 5.97 lakh were recovered from their possession.
“During further investigation, it came to fore that the all the arrested persons had committed a robbery at Pattan in District Baramulla and had decamped with 450 gms gold and Rs 1.30 lakh. A case under FIR Number 87/18 under Section 392 RPC stands registered at Police Station Pattan in this regard”, SSP informed.
He said that Zafar Supari and his associates are notorious criminals and are wanted in as many as 14 FIRs registered in various police stations in Valley, adding that further questioning of the accused is going on to ascertain their involvement in other theft cases.
Police team led by SHO Banihal Inspector Aejaz Ahmed Wani and assisted by SI Shamim Ahmed unearthed the gang under the supervision of SDPO Banihal Sajad Sarwar, Additional SP Ramban Sanjay Parihar and SSP Ramban Mohan Lal.
