JAMMU, Oct 8: Jammu police has claimed to have busted a gang of notorious chain snatchers by arresting three chain snatchers and recovering 4 gold chains from their possession.
Several complaints were lodged in police station Domana regarding chain snatching in Pounichak area. In this connection, two cases vide FIR numbers 274/2021 and 282/2021 under Section 382 of IPC were registered in police station Domana and investigation started.
The special police teams under the supervision of SDPO Domana Sunil Singh were constituted to crack the case. The team led by SHO police station Domana Inspector Mahesh Sharma assisted by Incharge police post Pouni Chak PSI Nitish Khajuria did hectic efforts and with the help of CCTV footages of the area, finally arrested the three accused involved in various chain snatching incidents.
The accused were identified as Ashok Singh Chib alias Sunny son of Kamal Singh of Sari Rakwala (Gho Manhasan, Jammu), Sunil Kumar alias Sunny son of Jagar Ram of Bhadrore (Gho Manhasan) and Dalvir Singh alias Aadil son of Hardeep Singh of Chak Laldin (Gho Manhasan).
On their disclosure, 4 gold chains weighing about 4 Tolas worth Rs 2 lakh approximately were recovered. One motorcycle bearing registration number JK02BK-0928 and one scooty bearing registration number JK02CN-9515 which were used for snatching were also recovered from them.
The whole operation was done under the overall supervision of SP Rural Sanjay Sharma.
Further investigation of the cases was going on.
