Srinagar, July 21: Police have successfully busted a gang of motorcycle lifters in Pattan area of Baramulla by apprehending four individuals involved in the case.
The breakthrough came after a complaint was filed on July 14, 2023, by John Mohammad War, son of Abdul Ahad War, a resident of Palpora, Pattan. The complaint stated that unknown thieves had stolen his motorcycle, bearing registration number JK05E-8826.
According to the police, the incident occurred on July 7, 2023, when War parked his motorcycle in front of his shop at Jamia Mohalla, Pattan and went to offer Friday prayers. Upon his return, he discovered that his motorcycle had gone missing, presumably stolen by unknown culprits.
Acting swiftly, the police registered a case and initiated an investigation.
During inquiry, the police identified several suspects. Upon questioning, one of the suspects, Mohd Abbas Daint, son of Mohd Ayoub Daint, a resident of Kusambagh, Hakbara Hajin, Bandipora, confessed his guilt.
Further interrogation, led to the revelation that he had also stolen three other motorcycles. He disclosed that he supplied the stolen motorcycles to Sajad Ahmad Pahloo, son of Mohd Ramzan Pahloo, a resident of Madwan, Hajin.
Pahloo, police said, was responsible for modifying and changing the parts of these stolen motorcycles before selling them. Consequently, Pahloo was also arrested in connection with the case.
As the investigation continued, two more individuals came under suspicion – Lateef Ahmad Fafoo, son of Gh Ahmad Fafoo, a resident of Gund Prang Madwan, Hajin, and Sajad Ahmad Wagay, son of Mohd Maqbool Wagay, a resident of Gund Prang Madwan, Hajin. The police arrested both of them in connection with the case.
The police recovered all the stolen motorcycles from Gund Prang and Madwan Hajin Bandipora.
