Gandhian philosophy

Sir,
Every year people from different walks of life including students from educational institutions pay their homage to the Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi on his birth and death anniversaries.
But a moot question arises.Do we live by what he taught us. Leaving aside some staunch followers, people hardly are aware of his teachings. Had people lived by his philosophy Indian State would have been quite different from what it is today.
The most important elements of Gandhian philosophy are his understanding the concept of truth and non-violence. The present science prevailing throughout the world is quite gloomy. It is violence all around us. There is no peace on the planet. Religion and region are gaining currency in our day to day life to further our selfish motives, thereby endangering peace and communal harmony. Besides, intolerance level is going up.
There is urgent need to live by Gandhian philosophy of peace and non-violence.
Yours etc….
