JAMMU, Oct 1: Gandhi Jayanti was celebrated across Jammu region with patriotic fervour and zeal. On the occasion, seminar, painting competition and poem recitation competitions were organised by various educational institutions.
Government SPMR College of Commerce organised a seminar on Gandhi Jayanti, in which students expressed their views on Gandhi Ji’s philosophy. Prof JL Bhagat, Principal, advised the students to follow the principle of non-violence, peace, harmony and universal brotherhood. The seminar was organised under the supervision of Prof Pawan Gupta and Prof Shivani Kotwal, Programme Officers, NSS.
Government Degree College, Billawar celebrated Gandhi Jayanti by organizing a symposium on the topic “Relevance of Gandhian Philosophy in the Present Times of Rising Violence”, in which students expressed their views. Ankita of BA Part III was adjudged as the best speaker while Divyanshu Goswami and Zahida Tabassum stood 2nd and 3rd respectively. Dr BL Gupta, Principal threw light on relevance of Gandhian Philosophy of truth and non-violence in the present times.
Government Degree College, Bishnah in collaboration with Cultural Committee celebrated Gandhi Jayanti as an “International Day of Non-Violence”. On the occasion, students presented bhajans, followed by symposium on “Relevance of Gandhian Philosophy in Modern Era” and poem recitation. Prof Kalpana Kesar, Principal, Prof Archana Bakshi, NSS Programme Officer, Dr Alka Sharma, convener, Cultural Committee and other speakers threw light on the life of Mahatma Gandhi.
To commemorate 143rd birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Government Degree College for Women, Kathua organised a seminar on the topic ” Impact of Gandhian Philosophy on our lives” where in students participated enthusiastically. Principal Prof Sohan Lal Bhagat threw light on the life of Mahatma Gandhi.
Gandhi Jayanti was celebrated enthusiastically in Rajiv Gandhi Degree College, Kathua on the occasion, floral tributes were paid to the Father of the Nation by Anu Dogra, Chairperson, Pankaj Dogra, Trustee, Dr GP Sachdev, Principal, faculty members and students. Anu Dogra and other speakers highlighted the Gandhi ji’s role in uniting the country in fighting against the British rule and awakening the masses of the country to remove untouchability, poverty and other social evils. Essay Writing and Poster making Competition on Gandhiji’s life were organised.
Sai Shyam College of Education, Ghou Manasa Jammu celebrated Gandhi Jayanti with great enthusiasm and fervour. CL Tickoo, Chairman of the College was the chief guest. A seminar on the topic ‘Gandhi Jayanti’ was organised, in which students participated actively. Principal of Sai Shyam School, Sarojni Saraf threw light on the topic, while the programme was anchored by a student Nerupna.
Vinayak Institute of Nursing and Para Medical Sciences organised a Debate competition to commemorate birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi. On the occasion, AD Singh, Director of the college, along with faculty members and students paid floral tributes to Gandhi Ji.
GD Goenka Public School celebrated Gandhi Jayanti with great fervour and zeal. On the occasion, the tiny toddlers were attired as Sarojni Naidu, Gandhi ji, Indira Gandhi, Jhansi Ki Rani, BR Ambedkar, Mother Teressa and Jawahar Lal Nehru. Principal Poonam Jha and coordinator Anupama Khashu, told the students to follow the path of truth and peace.
Delhi Public School celebrated Gandhi Jayanti with great gaiety and fervour. Children of class Ist and IInd presented a short skit based on the life of Mahatma Gandhi, followed by skit on Dandi March by the students of class IV and V. A talk was also presented by Aryan Khatri, student of class V ‘J’, while, Payal Tandon, recited a self written poem on Gandhi ji. Principal Sudarshan Sonar stressed on inculcating the values of patriotism, non-violence, tolerance and love among children.
Gandhi Jayanti was celebrated with patriotic fervour at Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Akhnoor. On the occasion, students threw light on the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi. Principal S N P Singh, in his speech impressed upon the students to follow the footprints of Gandhi Ji.
Gandhi Jayanti was celebrated with great zeal and Government Higher Secondary School, Muthi. A debate competition on “Relevance of Gandhian thought in contemporary India” was organised, where in, students presented their views. Manju Datt, Geeta Radha and Ravi Kumar were adjudged as first, second and third respectively. RL Gupta, Principal and other speakers highlighted the importance of Gandhian values in the present scenario.
A Poem recitation competition was held at Peepal Tree School to celebrate Gandhi Jayanti. Toddlers recited poems on the occasion. All the participants from each level confidently and expressively recited the poems. Akash Deep Singh, Trustee/ Principal of the school spoke about the importance of the competitions and also threw light on the life of Mahatma Gandhi.
Dewan Devi Higher Secondary School celebrated Gandhi Jayanti with great fervour and gaiety. The tender buds of the school threw light on the life of Mahatma Gandhi, followed by cultural items. Subash Suri, Chairman of the school advised the students to follow the footprints of Gandhi ji.
Kendriya Vidyalaya No 2, Jammu Cantt celebrated birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri with pomp and show. Principal, Vice Principal and HM along with children garlanded Gandhi Ji’s and Lal Bahadur Shastri Ji portraits. Children presented various programme on the life and teachings of Mahatma Gandhi.
Global Convent School organized a painting competition for class 5th students on the theme “Gandhi Jayanti”. The students showed full interest in painting and tried to decorate the theme given with different colours. Surya Dev, Parmeet and Annam Malik secured first, second and third positions in the competition. Principal J Gandotra and Founder Mona Pandoh gave away the prizes to the winning students and certificates to all the participants.
Gandhi Jayanti was celebrated with patriotic fervour at Sanatan Dharma Higher Secondary Kanya Vidyalaya. On the occasion, a debate competition was organised, in which Simran Gupta of class 10th bagged first position. A Poem recitation competition was also organised in which Sahil Bahadur of class 3rd and Arunditi of class nursery emerged winners.
Government Girls High School, Katra organised a symposium on “Role of Gandhi ji in National Movement” to commemorate the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. On the occasion, students expressed their views on the topic. Senior Headmaster Harish Dubey highlighted the achievements of Mahatma Gandhi.
National Public High School celebrated Gandhi Jayanti with great zeal and fervour. On the occasion, students recited poems and also threw light on the life of Mahatma Gandhi.
On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, Ankur Vidyalaya Public High School, organised a programme on the life and work of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi. Prof ML Hastoo, educationist, Kuldeep Raj Verma, VK Parimoo, Principal, Prof BL Koul, Vijay Pandita, Vice Principal, Suneeta Raina, senior teachers and students paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and also threw light on the life of Gandhi ji.
DRS Kids, Bantalab celebrated birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi with enthusiasm and zeal. On the occasion, students were attired as freedom fighters. Teachers threw light on the life of freedom fighters.
Apple Kids International Pre School, Bantalab celebrated Gandhi Jayanti with zeal and enthusiasm. Students presented various songs in the praise of Father of the Nation, followed by recitation of poems by the toddlers. Principal Puja Sharma said that Gandhi Jayanti is the right time to take an oath to follow Gandhian principles and make life free from the chains of hatred and violence.
Astrokids Playway and Day Care, Sainik Colony celebrated Gandhi Jayanti with enthusiasm. On the occasion, speeches were delivered about Mahatma Gandhi and children were also shown the slide show on Mahatama Gandhi. Chairperson Archana Sharma threw light on the life and teachings of Mahatma Gandhi.
Lord Mahavira Playway School, Shiv Nagar, celebrated Gandhi Jayanti with patriotic fervour. On the occasion, students were attired as Mahatma Gandhi. Principal Madhu along with teachers threw light on the life of Gandhi ji.
