Gambling den busted; 9 arrested with stake money

JAMMU, Feb 24: Satwari police busted a gambling den and also detained three criminals under preventive custody.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Satwari Police Station led by SHO Inspector Gurmeet Singh under the supervision of SDPO South Ram Singh and SP South Vinay Sharma conducted raid and busted a gambling den with the arrest of nine gamblers along with Rs 5,000 stake money and playing cards.
The arrested gamblers were identified as Vikas Kumar, son of Gagan Singh, Krishan Lal, son of Manohar Lal, Ankit Kumar, son of Vijay Kumar, all residents of Nai Basti, Kamaljeet Singh, son of Rangeel Singh, Amarjeet Singh, son of Nanak Singh, Amandeep Singh, son of Balbir Singh, trio residents of Digiana, Kamaljeet Singh, son of Parkash Singh of Digiana Pully, Iqbal Singh, son of Hardit Singh of Akali Kour Singh Nagar and Surinder Kumar, son of Sardari Lal of Preet Nagar Digiana.
All the arrested gamblers were booked under Section 4 Public Gambling Act and Istaghassa was produced against them in Sub Judge Court Jammu.
Meanwhile, Satwari Police has detained three criminals under preventive custody. The detained criminals were identified as Kamal Khajuria, son of Dev Raj of Rohi Morh, Simranjot Singh, son of Ranjit Singh of Chatha Mill and Ravinder Singh, son of Charan Singh of Lower Gadi Garh were detained under preventive custody.
It is pertinent to mention here that Simranjot Singh is a history sheeter and various cases stands registered against him at Satwari Police Station.
The criminals were detained under Section 107 and 151 CrPC by Satwari Police.
Later, the criminals were produced before Executive Magistrate 1st Class Gadi Garh, who granted them bail.
