JAMMU, July 30: Janipur police busted a gambling den with the arrest of 11 persons and recovery of over Rs 90,000 stake money from the spot.
A police spokesman said that, on specific inputs, police team from Janipur police station conducted a raid in a house at Lower Roop Nagar owned by Manoj Gupta, son of Harbans Lal Gupta.
During raid, police arrested 11 gamblers along with Rs 91,500 stake money and playing cards.
The accused have been identified Naresh Gurang, son of Lal Singh Gurang of Satwari, Kuldeep Singh, son of Ghar Singh of Dhok Paloura, Sumit Kumar Gupta, son of Deep Raj of Lower Roop Nagar, Manik Mahajan, son of Sushil Gupta of Sarwal, Sanjay Singh, son of Rama Shanker of Nai Basti, Satwari, Rajesh Singh, son of Varinder Singh of Udheywala, Sandeep Manhas, son of Bhagwan Singh of Dhok Paloura, Ramneek Singh, son of Gurcharan Singh of Camp Gole Gujral Ranjeet Pur Domana, Kamal Jeet, son of Ashok Kumar of Talab Tillo, Jagdev Raj, son of Chuni Lal of Kot Bhalwal and Jai Raj, son of Puran Singh of Dhok Paloura.
A case under Gambling Act was registered at police station Janipur and the accused were later produced in the Court of Law.
Police team headed by SHO Janipur Police Station SI Hilal Azhar made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO West Shriram Ambarkar, SP City Yougal Manhas and SSP Jammu Uttam Chand.
