Gamblers arrested in Ganderbal, stake money seized

Srinagar, July 31: Acting tough against social crimes, Ganderbal Police today said to have arrested 4 gamblers and seized stake money from their possession.
Acting on specific information, a police party from Police Post Shadipora under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Ganderbal raided a gambling site at Rabitar following an input about gambling activities and apprehended four gamblers.
“They have been identified as Mohammad Akhter Dar son of Ghulam Rasool Dar resident of Lathi Authkhuroo, Farooq Ahmad Guru son of Ali Mohd Guru, Bashir Ahmad Khan son of Abdul Salam Khan and Ghulam Rasool Gulla son of Ghulam Nabi Gulla, all residents of Narayan Bagh, Ganderbal,” police said.
Officers have seized stake money of Rs 11,300 and playing cards from the gamblers.
They have been arrested and shifted to the police station where they remain in custody. In this connection, a case vide FIR No. 144/2021 under the relevant section of law has been registered at Police Station Ganderbal and further investigation has been taken up.
