POONCH, June 26: Gali Pindi village, closer to the Line of Control (LoC) in Mandi Tehsil of district Poonch is without power supply for the last three days.
Former Chairman Panchayat Mohd Bashir and Ex-Sarpanch Mohd Shabir told the Excelsior that worst is the condition of power supply in the area. When the power break down occurs, the concerned field staff and even the Sub Divisional staff hardly pay any attention.
They disclosed that entire area having a population of over 4000 to 5000 souls, has been plunged into darkness for the last three days. They said there was no much rain and wind storm. Some fault is the power line or transformers could be the reason of power failure. The concerned field staff at Gali Pindi has failed to restore power despite repeated requests. They said in many areas, there are no poles and the PDD staff has tied live cables on the green trees, causing risk to the life of the public and their cattle.
Today, they approached the concerned AEE at Mandi Sub Division who allegedly misbehaved with them and threatened to do what every they can. They alleged that they had only conveyed to the AEE to rectify fault within 24 hour, otherwise, they would be forced to move to the office of DC Poonch and Executive Engineer PDD Poonch to stage dharna. They demanded action against the AEE concerned.
Executive Engineer, PDD Poonch Maqbool Naik when contacted said that since the matter has come to his notice, he would take due note of it and ensure that power is restored to the area.
