Gagan challenges dissolution of Assembly in SC, Dina Nath supports

JAMMU, Nov 29: Former BJP MLA from RS Pura and dissident party leader Gagan Bhagat today filed a Writ Petition in the Supreme Court challenging dissolution of the State Assembly by Governor Satya Pal Malik.
Bhagat told the Excelsior from New Delhi that he has filed Writ Petition before the Supreme Court vide Diary No. 44788 of 2018, whereby, he has challenged the order of the Governor by virtue of which the State Legislative Assembly was dissolved.
The Governor had dissolved the Legislative Assembly, which was under suspended animation since June 20, on November 22 following claims and counter claims by Mehbooba Mufti and Sajjad Lone led groups to form the Government.
The Assembly was kept under suspended animation by then Governor NN Vohra on June 20 while imposing the Governor’s rule in Jammu and Kashmir after BJP withdrew support to Mehbooba Mufti-led Government.
Meanwhile, another BJP dissident leader and former MLA from Chenani Dina Nath Bhagat has come out in open support of Gagan Bhagat on challenging the dissolution of J&K Assembly in Supreme Court of India.
Bhagat said that floor test should be conducted in the Assembly after reviving it.
