JAMMU, Feb 10: MLA, R.S Pura, Dr.Gagan Bhagat handed over appointment order to Karanjeet Kour wife of Sandeep Singh and a resident of village Maralia, at a function at Child Development Project Office R S Pura today. Mrs Kour was appointed on the vacant post which was available after the previous Aangan Wadi Worker (A.W.W) at the Maralia-C was selected in the School Education Department as a teacher. Addressing the gathering Dr.Gagan Bhagat appreciated the role of the administration, N.G.Os, social organizations, in taking keen interest in implementing the “Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao” into the State.
He said if the ground situation of the women folk has changed and the sex-ratio is improving due to the combine efforts of all of us who are working for a cause.
He lauded the role of girl students who are leading the campaign here at R.S Pura and also complimented the Principal of G.D.C R.S Pura & Principal G.G.H.S.S for actively participation and encouraging the students for the much needed cause. Dr.Gagan who stressed on women empowerment also talked about women liberty.
Kashmiri folk songs, Dogri folk songs, and a Dogri skit was performed by the members of the Krishna Cultural Club which made the spectators spell bound. Dr.Gagan Bhagat stressed on organizing such cultural programmes for creating awareness among the villagers in particular. These cultural shows highlight the need to save the girl child and also nurture the talent among the local folk artists. The programme highlighted the importance of generating awareness among the masses regarding the negative social impact of declining sex ratio. Several girl students were also felicitated on the occasion by Dr.Gagan Bhagat participated in debates, speeches, and cultural programme. On the occasion S.D.M R.S Pura, Tehsildaar R.S Pura, B.D.O Miran Sahib, B.M.O R.S Pura, B.D.O R.S Pura and others were present.
