JAMMU, Jan 15: Ragi of Golden Temple (Amritsar) and International Ragi), Jagtar Singh organized a function at Gurudwara Digiana Ashram under the spiritual leadership of Mahant Manjeet Singh wherein Giani Raghbir Singh Jathedar, Akal Takhat Amritsar (highest temporal seat of Sikhs) was specially invited.
While addressing the sangat, Giani Raghbir Singh highlighted the history of Dera Nangali Sahib and Sant Bhai Pheru Singh and laid emphasis on unity of Sikh community in Jammu.
He further declared formally Advocate Meenakshi Slathia Kaur daughter of BS Slathia (senior advocate and president of J&K High Court Bar Association Jammu) and Advocate Mandeep Singh Bijral son of Ramnik Singh Bijral (ex-DGPC Member) as Legal counsels to represent Shiromani Gurudwara Parbandak Committee Amritsar (SGPC) and its legal affairs in the Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh in case there is any conflict with regard to Gurudwaras involving interest of SGPC Amritsar.
Further, he declared that Advocate Meenakshi will be at liberty to appoint a panel of lawyers on her own to assist her in managing the legal affairs of SGPC Amritsar in J&K. On the occasion, both the Advocates were bestowed “Siropa” (robe of honour) and blessings for their contributions towards the community.
It was the first time in J&K that a lady Advocate from J&K and Ladakh has been given such a high an honour and huge responsibility of community by Jathedar Sabhb, Akal Takht.
