JAMMU, Sept 5: Federation of Self Financed Technical Institutions (FSFTI) has said that like PMSSS students from Jammu and Kashmir, the State Government should also get the last date of admission extended for every student of J&K.
President, FSFTI and Chairman, Aryans Group of Colleges, near Chandigarh, Dr Anshu Kataria appreciated the step taken by Jammu & Kashmir Govt to knock the doors of Supreme Court thereby getting the relief in extension of the last date of admissions till 15th Sept for PMSSS students for the State of J&K.
“On the same lines, J&K Government should also get the extension of admission date for every student of J&K,” he added.
Kataria further said that under PMSSS over 5000 students of J&K take admission every year in various colleges but the total number of students of J&K other than PMSSS accounts to 25000. “Over 20,000 students still couldn’t approach in the colleges due to restrictions imposed in the State after the revocation of its special status.” He explained.
An application was filed through Advocate Shoeb Alam on behalf of the Higher Education Department, Government of Jammu & Kashmir seeking an extension of admission to engineering colleges across the country for students selected for Prime Minister Special Scholarship Scheme (PMSSS). The division bench comprising of Justices U U Lalit and R Subhash Reddy agreed with the submissions of counsel i.e recent restrictions that were imposed on the State, including communication, shut down and ordered the extension of admission date till 15th September.
Kataria added that the Govt should keep the future of other JK students in mind and get the last date of admissions extended for all J&K students on the same pattern.
